It's going to be the Clare Valley Breakaway Festival when the Tour Down Under comes to the region in January 2010!
The Festival will run from Friday, January 15 to Tuesday, January 19, when the international cycling race will begin it's first leg from Clare and travel throught the Clare and Gilbert Valleys.
Events for the Breakaway Festival will include a Picnic Ride along the Riesling Trail on Saturday, a cycle ride along the Clare to Tarlee Tour Down Under circuit on Sunday, and a Festival in Clare main street organised by the local traders on Monday.
Riverton will run it's own Festival on the day of the race.
There will be a VIP wine tasting on Monday night and a Breakfast of Champions on the morning of the start of the race in the Clare Town Hall, where this VIP event has been designed to showcase the region and it's products.
Clare and Gilbert Valley's Mayor, Allan Aughey, was thrilled with the level of support and enthusiam building throughout the Valley's communities and was particularly pleased to welcome Veronica and Peter Eaton from Expandastand as the events local Platinum Sponsors.
"The Festival is a fabulous opportunity to showcase the Clare & Gilbert Valleys by creating a unique local event to celebrate the Tour Down Under coming here," Mayor Aughey said.
